Vital Pulp Therapies

Vital Pulp Therapies

Vital pulp Therapies (VPT) are a group of dental procedures that aim to treat teeth with the goal to preserve the vitality of the dental pulp. Cavities, trauma, or restorative procedures may result in injury to the pulp. Traditionally, vital pulp therapies include pulp capping procedures and pulpotomy procedures. In teeth with young, immature, wide open root-ends, which are still developing, vital pulp therapy is also a modality to promote continued root growth, a procedure known as apexogenesis.
