Sedation Options

At Leon River Endodontics, we understand that dental treatment can cause anxiety for some patients. Our goal is to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We offer several sedation options and can help determine which option is most appropriate for you based on your individual needs, medical history, and planned treatment.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas,” is a mild form of sedation that can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation during treatment. It is administered through a small mask placed over the nose and takes effect quickly. The effects also wear off quickly once treatment is complete, allowing most patients to resume their normal activities afterward.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation may be recommended for patients who experience moderate dental anxiety or would like a deeper level of relaxation during treatment. Medication is taken by mouth prior to the procedure and can make you feel very relaxed and drowsy while still allowing you to respond to your doctor. Patients receiving oral sedation will need a responsible adult to drive them to and from their appointment and should plan to rest for the remainder of the day.

IV Sedation

For patients who experience significant dental anxiety or prefer a deeper level of sedation, IV sedation is available in our office. IV sedation is administered and monitored by an independent anesthesia provider who works alongside our endodontic team throughout your procedure.

IV sedation requires advance scheduling and a responsible adult to drive you home following your appointment. Anesthesia services are provided and billed separately by the anesthesia provider. An evaluation is required before treatment with IV sedation can be scheduled. Our team will provide additional information and instructions at your evaluation.
